With AI, you can just say "do this for me" — or record it as an automation and replay it with one line later. Which should you use? It depends on how fixed the task is.

Ask AI directly: flexible

Best for one-off tasks, or ones whose requirements change every time.

Pros: say whatever comes to mind, and changing a requirement costs nothing. Cons: the AI has to re-plan and re-run it each time.

Record an automation: reliable

Best for repetitive tasks you do daily or weekly.

Pros: runs the recorded flow deterministically — fast and hands-free. Cons: the flow is fixed; major changes need a re-record.

How to choose

  • Fixed time, every day → record it.
  • Just thought of it, one-off → ask directly.
  • Steps are always identical → record it.
  • Requirements change each time → ask directly.

You can use both

Run the flow via "ask AI" first; once you like the result, record it for good.

If an automation gets stuck, the AI takes over and fixes it — no re-recording needed.

💡 Rule of thumb: fixed and frequent → record it; occasional or changing → ask it.
